Amazon Warehousing and Distribution is bulk storage that feeds FBA automatically. It is good at that one job. If your inventory also needs to ship to your own customers, to wholesale accounts, to Walmart or TikTok, or in your own packaging, an independent 3PL does all of it from one stock, at a storage rate that is almost the same.
Both hold your inventory in a US warehouse. The difference is what happens to it next.
Bulk storage in Amazon's upstream network with automatic replenishment into FBA when stock runs low. Published rates, no contract, scale that is hard to match.
An independent warehouse in California and Florida that stores, preps, picks, packs and ships for every channel you sell on, in your packaging, with people you can reach.
AWD is good at what AWD does. We are built for brands that sell in more than one place.
Pallet prep $19.99, container unloading from $199, software $0. Freight to Amazon and carrier postage are billed at cost. A $200 monthly activity minimum applies across services and shipping counts toward it.

$0.57 per cubic foot in January and $0.57 in December. No peak season surcharge, no aged inventory surcharge, no rate change by month. The number you budget in Q1 is the number you pay in Q4.
AWD storage itself has no Q4 surcharge. Once stock moves into FBA, where it has to go to sell, FBA storage rises in October through December and aged inventory surcharges start at 181 days.

Storage is close to a wash. Amazon publishes AWD base storage at $0.48 per cubic foot per month in most regions and $0.57 in the West, with discounts of 10 to 20 percent if you let Amazon manage replenishment. Ours is $0.57 everywhere, with the first 30 days free and no long term or peak surcharge.
The difference shows up in movement. AWD charges per box in, per box out, and per cubic foot each time inventory is transported into FBA, at Amazon's published rates. We charge $0.15 per unit received and $1.50 per unit for FBA prep, and freight to Amazon is billed at cost. Which one comes out lower depends on your carton sizes and how often you replenish, so run your own numbers. The real question is not the storage line. It is whether the same pallets also need to ship to your own customers, your wholesale accounts or other marketplaces. If yes, holding them in two places costs you twice.
Amazon's bulk storage program upstream of FBA. You send pallets, Amazon stores them and moves stock into FBA as it sells. Billed per cubic foot stored, per box handled and per cubic foot transported.
Amazon stores inventory in its fulfillment centers and picks, packs and ships Amazon orders, with Prime eligibility. Fees per unit by size and weight, plus storage with Q4 and aged inventory surcharges.
You, or a 3PL on your behalf, ship Amazon orders from your own warehouse. ShipByClick ships FBM orders the same business day.
Using FBA inventory to fulfill orders from other channels, in Amazon packaging, at a separate fee schedule. Not the same as AWD.
The Amazon barcode each unit must carry before it enters FBA. Applying it is part of FBA prep.
Amazon's score for how well you manage FBA inventory. It influences your FBA capacity limits, which is one reason sellers keep overflow stock in AWD or a 3PL.
An independent warehouse that stores, preps, picks, packs and ships for your brand across every channel. ShipByClick is a 3PL.
The two ways inventory moves into Amazon: as individual cartons by parcel carrier, or as pallets by freight. We build and ship both.
Yes, and some brands do: AWD for deep Amazon only reserve stock, a 3PL for everything that ships anywhere else. The cost of that setup is split inventory and two sets of inbound freight. Many brands find one 3PL that also replenishes FBA is simpler.
No. You create the shipment in Seller Central and tell us the quantities; we prep, label, palletize and ship. You keep control of timing and quantity, which matters when capacity limits or cash flow are tight.
About the same. AWD base storage is $0.48 to $0.57 per cubic foot depending on region, with discounts for Amazon managed replenishment. Ours is $0.57, with the first 30 days free and no peak or long term surcharge. The decision is rarely about the storage line.
Yes. We unload the container, count and inspect, prep the units for FBA, send what Amazon needs now, and hold the rest at $0.57 per cubic foot for later replenishment or for your other channels.
Based on Amazon's program description, AWD does not ship individual orders to consumers, does not offer kitting or custom packaging, and requires one SKU per carton on inbound. Verify current rules in Seller Central, as they change.
